'All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth.'

  • How many ping pong balls were in the mini cooper...19581!

Thank you to all who guessed and supported our schools!

    ADULT SPELLING BEE
Saturday night, Melanie Frank's Team Slifer held off Colorado Learning Connection and The Legend (Summit Cove team sponsored by A-Basin) to win the first annual Big Buzz Off in front of a crowd of almost 400 people at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge. Of course it took over $3,000 in generous contributions by the Slifer team to ultimately pull out the win - but money well spent, when they successfully spelled "daguerreotype" to take home the trophy and title.

    MINI COOPER
At the end of the evening, we called Chris and Myra Eby via cell phone to announce they had won the MINI Cooper with Myra's winning guess of 19,570 ping pong balls in the MINI Cooper. And the evening ended in a grand finale.

But that wasn’t the end. Earlier today in a bold and courageous display of generosity, Myra Eby announced in front of Frisco Elementary that she was DONATING the MINI Cooper BACK TO SEF, in return for requesting a directed gift of $5,000 to Frisco Elementary where their daughter Winter Michelle attends 4th grade.

Myra Eby shared, "the success of the Summit Education Foundation has been inspirational to so many of us, and this is really all about the kids isn't it? I'm so excited that I won the MINI so I could give it back. Don't get me wrong, it would be fun to have that car - but the kids are so much more important! Our family is grateful to be able to provide this to the District. We were unanimous, as it was the right thing to do."

The Eby Family's genorosity has added another $20,000 to our funds raised through our spring fundraisers, bringing our final total to over $45,000! We will be delivering $5,000 to Frisco Elementary and the remainder will go to supporting and enhancing technology in the District.

Thanks to so many of you who supported our efforts this spring! We are truly blessed to live in such a generous community, and I think it's safe to say - THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.
