'Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. The human mind is our fundamental resource.'
~ John F. Kennedy

SEF actively raises private funds to enhance our childrens’ education because state funding in today’s economy is insufficient to provide the academic excellence and learning opportunities that we expect for our children. The state of Colorado currently falls 49th in the nation for spending per student based on household income, and the education of our children is one of the best investments we can make.

STRONG & BROAD CURRICULUM

Preserving and expanding a diverse curriculum

CRITICAL PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Maintaining and expanding vital programs and services for students

SEF wrote grant applications to all towns of Summit County for the EverydayMath online program which is vital to the math program at all the grade schools. SEF general funds added to the monies received from the towns ($5820) to make up the total cost ($14,136) of the online program for 2010-11. The district has this in their budget for the foreseeable future.

SMALL CLASSES

Improving the classroom experience by making low student/teacher ratios a priority

EXCELLENT TEACHERS

Awarding outstanding teaching through professional development and recognition

In partnership with the F3 Foundation, SEF was able to award teachers monies based on an Innovative Teacher Grant Application for innovative projects in the classroom or school.

CLASSROOM NEEDS

Bridging the gap for basic necessities, like supplies, materials, supplemental curriculum

Our initial fundraising campaign raised $24,000 disbursed equally among all schools to specifically help teachers with back to school costs that might have been paid out of the teacher's pocket.

TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENT

Investing in technology to keep our students competitive in an ever-evolving and changing world

Our 1st Annual Adult Spelling Bee and Mini Cooper giveaway raised $54,000 for the district's technology fund for professional development in technology. This was in part possible by the generous donation of the Mini Cooper back to SEF by Myra & Chris Eby.
